Wales is quite hilly, which means roads are more twisty and fun to ride. From Corwen, the town I stopped the day before, I drove for about 1,5h through gorgeous landscapes and reached Llandudno. It’s a lovely sea town at the very North of Wales.
Some roads in the UK are unique. Like the one here below, very narrow and with high hedges. There is barely space for one car and you can’t see around the corners!
Once in Llandudno, I headed to the sea side, enjoyed the laid back atmosphere and found a tiny cafè with outstanding milk shakes.
The other side of the town was more lively, with the city center and even a Ferris wheel.
From there, a one way toll road called Great Orme, goes around the peninsula delivering breathtaking views. I didn’t hesitate, happily paid the couple of pounds they asked and off I went.
On the way, I also made an unexpected encounter:
About half way, a biforcation was leading up to the copper mines. I couldn’t resit.
As hoped, the view from the top was marvellous 🤩
A lot of wind but vibrant colours. Back to the Great Orme road, it got even better.
A road I enjoyed and can recommend. The next destination was going to be Pen-y-Pass and the Snowdonia National Park, about 1,5h direction South.
Pen-y-Pass 
The mountain pass is just 359 meters above the sea level but it truly feels as if it would be much higher. In front of my eyes, the beauty of the Snowdonia National Park, a wild mix of different shades of green and the fresh air, that usually national parks bring. As a sign there stated: one of Britain breathing spaces.
Wales has more castles and most other countries, so on the way fuether South but still close to the coast, Harlech castle offered me a nice break opportunity.
The beach nearby reminded me some of those in Ireland: wild, wide, sandy.
I rode for a total of 350 Kms and still found lovely spots to rest and assimilate Wales’s beauty.
I ended up staying in Llandridod Wells for the night. Other bikers were also there and I ordered one of my favourites dishes in the UK: a steak pie 🥧
