Day 21 🇱🇺 Chouffe & Luxemburg

July 12th 2023

A treat, that’s what I needed after another raining night. And so, when Arthur, the camping owner, a tall Dutch guy, asked me if I wanted breakfast 🍳 I said “please count me in!”.

In the morning I wanted to head to a brilliant Belgian brewery called Chouffe. Seb’s tipps lead me trough an awesome ride through woods and along rivers. As soon as the pavement was dry, I truly had lots of fun 🤩

Marvellous landscape

I was approaching the little village of Achouffe, when a couple of dwarfs where so nice to show me the right way to the brewery.

Which way?

Achouffe is located deep in a valley with a curvy road leading there.

On my arrival, I was greeted by a pond surrounded by a tiny magical wood with a stream running nearby. A dwarf could have jumped out at any minute. Have a look at the photos and judge by yourself.

Mesmerising.

On the walk around the pond there were also signs with insights about the origins of the dwarfs and of the Chouffe beer.

Why is it called Chouffe?

The brewery in the background was showing an eye catching red dwarf hat. What a nice touch!

A wonderful experience! It was only 11:30am but as some say, it was also 5pm somewhere else in the world 😜

A cold Chouffe

Somehow, after my visit to the Chouffe, the roads became more fun to ride.

About one hour later, I crossed the border to Luxemburg.

Welcome to Luxemburg

My first time in Luxemburg. Mixed impressions.

The one thing that striked me the most about Luxemburg, was the amount of warning signs for bikers not to speed and the consequent number of speed radars hidden in the woods. I was in Luxemburg only half a day but I got the feeling, that there is a general fear of everything which is exciting but might also be dangerous. Basically most of the fun things in life.

I arrived to the capital and spent a couple of hours walking around and enjoyed it.

Nice place. Overall I enjoyed Luxemburg, especially as they have great roads to ride even if with too many speed traps.

Back on two wheels, in about half an hour I crossed the Moselle river and I was back in Germany.

As I don’t usually drive on motorways, I still had several hours before getting home. The evening was approaching and I found shelter at the camping Ohmbachsee not far from Saarbrücken. The camping was almoat empty but ready to be filled by the families and kids as soon as the school was going to be over.
