The next morning I packed my things and headed to Gent, another cute little town im the Flanders. The rides in the north part of Belgium are straight and flat. Short before 10am, Lollo was already parked and I was on foot.

As for Brugge, the best way to discover Gent is to walk. As easy as it is to get lost through the streets and alleys, it’s also easy to find again the orientation.

Many impressions but somehow except for the tower, I didn’t remember most of it, like I did in Brugge.

The only other place I remembered was this restaurant I had lunch with together with father back in 2007.

It was almost lunch time as I left Gent in direction Brussels. I wished to see again the appartament and the area called Koekelberg, where I lived between 2006 and 2008.

Nothing had changed as I arrived in front of the building in Boulevard Louis Mettewie. it was the beginning of my working career with Cisco and I shared the apartment with a Flemish guy called Jeroen.

The day before I had already reached out to Seb, another Cisco colleague and now friend, who lives near Liege.

We met for a drink at his home and after aome chat about the old times and catching up about the news, he took out his motorbike from the garage and we went out together for a ride.

The landscape began to be different. No more straight and flat road but twisties up and down hilla through the woods. A brilliant ride 👍🏻

We had dinner at the restaurant Bonhomme in Remouchamps and ordered fish and a great selection of Belgian beers.

I knew some of the beers but the most impressive was a local unfiltered one called “Elfique”. Look at the video below ⬇️

It was so nice to meet again Seb and we had a great dinner together. He gave me a couple of tips about the roads for the next day and a brilliant idea for a place to visit. A river was flowing near the restaurant and just few kilometres upstream a gorgeous camping was awaiting me.
