Day 11 🇫🇷 Les Châteaux de la Loire Part 2

The evening before I had bought something for breakfast and incredibly so, it withstanded the bike ride. I didn’t go easy on it 🤣

Since the Amboise castle was just 1,5 Km away I left Lollo and the tent at the camping and walked to it. Walking allows me to get a much better feeling of the surrounding. Here are some of the impressions on the way.

Do you see the armour and swords shop above? Well, I had a flashback throwing me into the past, when as a kid, I stood exactly there, watching every detail. Remarkable. The castle visit was very nice. Near the castle there is a small church, where Leonardo Da Vinci has been buried. Unfortunately it was under renovation, so I couldn’t access it.

Among the Loire castles, not far from Amboise castle, there is a small residence, called Clos Lucè. Some people add the Château in front, some not. It was Leonardo’s home in the last years of his life and both my sister and I remember visiting it.

We are going to leave Amboise to visit other 3 castles, this time just from the outside. The first one of which is Azay-le-Rideau:

Followed by Langais, a castle similar to Chaumont but completely embedded in the city.

And last but not least, Saumur castle where I also had lunch. A band accompanied the moment with live music.

What a marvellous experience seen again these castles and remembering my childhood. As the day was not over yet and I had some hundreds Km to cover to reach the destination for the next day, Lollo and I put our wheels direction North and ended up in a Farm Camping called “La Viotterie”.
