Today is going to be a lazy day in Verona. After breakfast I walked to the city center and discovered some nice spots.
I bought a newspaper, found a nice park near the Arena and enjoyed the calm atmosphere of Verona.
The lazy day continues with an aperitif. I guess I needed to recover from yesterday’s 4:30h drive 😁
Giulietta’s house was awaiting and a looong tourists queue was in front of it, confirming that the balcony is still the main attraction here. Luckily the man at the entrance mentioned that online tickets can jump the queue. Two minutes later and 7€ less in my bank account, allowed me to enter.
And there it was: Juliet’s balcony. The city of Verona bought the building in 1908 for a good reason. Both families of Montecchi and Capuleti existed in real life but the characters of Romeo and Juliet are just imaginary. Nevertheless their love and story are still a strong symbol. Look at the photo below with the red locks!
It was nice to imagine living during those times in Verona.
Very close to the Juliet’s house is Piazza Mercato Vecchio, the most beautiful part of Verona.
If you too, are going to visit Verona don’t miss the ice cream shop at the corner called Gelateria Amorino. They have organic ice cream and use a very special technique to put it on the cone. It makes possible to have several flavours even on the smallest cone. The result looks elegant and yummy 😋
Verona was on my list and it was definitely worth to spend the day here. The Arena and Juliet’s house are the main attractions but there is much more. I’ve taken tons of pics!
The route continues to lake Iseo where I decided to spend the night in the Camping Olivella. It was about 1:30h drive to reach this beautiful panorama.
The camping was directly on the lake and the owners are very friendly and accommodating. After I pitched the tent, the sunset approached and I took the time to enjoy the view.
