As for every big city I dedicated one day to explore Tirana. If you have ever been to Rome, you will notice how much some corners of Tirana remind it.
Look at the picture below. The pine trees, the marble building and the sunlight. This could be easily mistaken with Rome.
It’s mid of August and also the heat is the same as in Rome. Tirana is relatively empty during the day, while in the evening when the temperature gets a bit cooler, more people get out and shop at night markets.
The renowned Pyramid of Tirana is completely surrendered by walls due to the renovation works.
Most of the sightseeing sites are reachable by walk.
A nice walking area in the center offers some shadow and cafes to enjoy some refreshments.
As for some of the countries visited so far, also Albania was under a communist dictatorship till 1990. There are lots of bunkers disseminated across the country and even underground tunnels. One of them has been turned into a museum called Bunk Art 2.

It’s unbelievable how some people are convinced to be better than others and bend reality. Travels help a lot in understanding other cultures and be open minded.
Many people in Albania like to eat roasted corn 🌽 and you can buy it in the streets.

To conclude the day, I found a great restaurant called Fishop. They have a shop selling fresh fish and just few meters away, a restaurant which buys directly from the shop. The kitchen is behind a glass and they serve great dishes!
