Day 27 šŸ‡§šŸ‡¬ Varna and Vodka

Monday August the 2nd
Total distance driven: 4.724 Km
Today’s distance: 103 Km
Walked distance: 6,9 Km

I woke up with a little headache and memorable conversations of the night before. We had finished the bottle. It was around 7:30 am. No sign of Alexey besides his motorcycle and tent.

The showers and toilets of the camping where locked electronically and we didn’t have the key, as when we arrived yesterday, the reception was already closed. I went to the reception and met Alexey. He said: good morning! Have you slept well? The alcohol was good yesterday šŸ‘šŸ¼ Let’s have a swim!!

You know me. I didn’t have a swim-suit or a towel… but I thought who cares? Let’s follow Alexey! The first swim in the black sea; in underwear šŸ˜„

Alexey had used his tent for the first time last night but he sorted everything out brilliantly. Moreover, after 25 years use, his motorcycle boots sole was detaching and he was looking for some glue he had brought. No luck.

He was also in Tulcea but his reservation for the night was apparently a scam. He made then friendship with a motorcycle gang there and they let him crash at their place. Another epic story.

Getting ready
Having a smoke before leaving for Varna

ā€œForget the dive and the place I wanted to spent the night in Varnaā€, I thought. Where are you going to stay?, I asked. ā€œIn the Hostel del Marā€. He replied. Let’s drive there.

We took a ride to visit Varna and had lunch there. We spoke about Ukraine, Crimea, Russia, Germany and Italy. In fact Alexey has already been in Nuremberg for an exposition and has apparently stayed very close to where I live. He makes any kind of illustrations, particularly for children books but also other subjects.

Before coming back to the hostel we stopped at a shop to fix his back light.

It’s not easy to describe his personality in words but he is the kind of friend you could spend lot of time with and still discover funny and interesting insights. Around 5pm he prepared some salty fish sandwich with dill and we drank Wodka to friendship, mom, family (he has two daughters).

Drinking Vodka the Ukrainian way

Rumi, the hostel’s host, proposed to drive us to a beach nearby and we accepted. Her 2 years old daughter was also of the party. We spent two beautiful hours with the sunset light, swimming and talking.

And Alexey photo bombed my selfie šŸ˜‚

The bottle of Wodka was still awaiting us when we returned and so we ended the day on a terrace with sea view. A memorable moment.
